Merging two filtration technologies, this dual-purpose carbon block cartridge is suitable for residential water treatment. It is designed for installation inside 10-inch Big Blue filter housings, including the Stage 2 of UV5501.

Polyspun polypropylene outer layer wraps a standard carbon block core, stopping premature clogging and extending the service life. Sized for high-flow housings, the physical dimensions are 4.63 inches in outer diameter by 9.81 inches in length (117.6 mm by 249 mm). The construction includes polypropylene end caps and standard gaskets.

Initial-resistance to water flow is low, with a tested pressure drop of 1.0 psi at an initial test flow rate of 7.6 Lpm. The cartridge is rated at a nominal 10-micron filtration level, capturing dirt, silt, sand, rust, and chlorine compounds. It operates on cold water lines with a temperature limit of 51.7°C.

Versatile residential and commercial systems can utilize this standard carbon block, identified by the part number DFXCBBB. The hybrid structure is Tested and Certified by NSF International to NSF/ANSI Standard 42 for material requirements only. Cartridge replacement is recommended every 6 to 12 months depending on the organic loading.
