Pure polypropylene spun fibers form the gradient density structure of this sediment cartridge, suitable for residential pre-filtration. It is designed for installation inside 10-inch Big Blue filter housings, including the Stage 1 sediment filtration stage of the Pentair UV5501 water system.
Spun fibers form a gradient density from the outer to inner surfaces, creating a multi-layered pre-filtration and fine-filtration barrier. Sized for use in standard high-flow housings, the physical dimensions are 4.50 inches in outer diameter by 9.88 inches in length (114 mm by 251 mm). The synthetic material is chemically compatible with municipal water.
Velocities of fluid through the expanded filter depth are maintained with high particulate reduction efficiency. Sourced performance curves indicate an initial pressure drop of less than 1 psi at a test flow rate of 38 Lpm. The cartridge is rated at a nominal 1-micron filtration level and operates on water lines at temperatures from 4.4 to 62.8°C.
Rural, domestic, and commercial point-of-entry lines can utilize this element, which is cataloged under part number DGD2501. The gradient design achieves up to three times the dirt holding capacity of standard sediment cartridges. Manual replacement of the cartridge is required every 6 to 12 months depending on water turbidity.
