Extruded as a carbon block, this filter cartridge is suitable for point-of-entry lead and cyst reduction. It is designed for installation inside 10-inch Big Blue filter housings, including the Stage 2 of UV5505, providing a secondary barrier.

Surrounding a central water flow core, the carbon block wall is manufactured with specialized lead-reducing binders and polypropylene end caps. The physical dimensions are a nominal 10 by 4.5 inches. The solid structure withstands water pressures up to 500 kPa.

Cyst reduction is achieved mechanically by a nominal 0.5-micron filtration rating, certified to NSF/ANSI Standard 53 to reduce microscopic cysts such as cryptosporidium and giardia. The cartridge operates on cold water lines with a working temperature range up to 51.7°C, performing chemical reduction.

Installing this element requires correct vertical alignment within the filter housing sump to prevent fluid bypass.
