Product Overview

Commercial fluid circulation duties in hydronic heating plants and industrial process loops are handled by the NB 40-160/177 end-suction centrifugal pump. Equipped with a 11 kW motor drive, the unit features standardized DN 65 axial inlet and DN 40 radial outlet flanged pipe connections.

Liquid circulation capacity reaches a rated flow volume of 846 L/Min while generating 39.56 m maximum head limit. The casing body is cast in EN-GJL-250 iron with electrocoated protective finish. Fluid movement is driven by a stainless steel impeller with BQQE mechanical shaft seal. Net product weight measures 142 kg.

A 11 kW drive motor powers the NB 40-160/177 unit from a 415 V three-phase electrical source, drawing 21.5 Amps nominal current. Working fluid limits handle liquid temperatures from -25°C to 120°C under line pressure ratings up to 16 bar. Standard DN 65 inlet and DN 40 outlet flanged connections support mounting.

Protective features on the NB 40-160/177 pump include an IP55 motor enclosure, Class F winding insulation, and internal PTC thermistor monitoring. The back-pull-out design allows complete drive and impeller extraction without disturbing connected suction or discharge pipework flanges in plant rooms.

Features

  • O-ring seal between pump housing and cover eliminates leakage risk at the volute-to-cover joint under sustained operating pressures.
  • Optimised impeller and volute hydraulics deliver unimpeded liquid flow through the pump casing, reducing internal turbulence losses.
  • All stainless steel shaft construction provides improved corrosion resistance compared to carbon steel alternatives in wetted service areas.
  • Mechanical shaft seal can be replaced without removing the impeller, system piping, pump volute casing or drive motor from the installation.
  • Housing, impeller and wear ring use dissimilar material pairings to prevent galling and ensure no sticking elements during extended standby periods.
  • High-efficiency motor selection is configured to match the specific power supply characteristics, pumping environment and liquid properties of each installation.
  • Back pull-out design allows complete rotating assembly removal including motor, coupling and impeller without disturbing pump housing or connected pipework.

Displacing fluid through large axial suction ports, what peak flow volume can this unit sustain?

Displacing high fluid volumes across central energy lines, Grundfos NB 40-160/177 achieves a peak delivery of approximately 846 L/Min.

How are the foot-mounted volute and stainless steel impeller engineered to withstand severe fluid wear?

High structural durability in NB 40-160/177 is established by an EN-GJL-250 cast iron shell alongside a durable stainless steel impeller.

Under full rated motor output, what kilowatt rating, line voltage, and full-load current are required?

Driven by an electric motor delivering 11 kW of mechanical power, NB-40-160-177 operates on a three-phase 415 V supply pulling 21.5 Amps.

Which fluid temperature limits and working pressure capabilities are engineered into this heavy casing?

Thermal operating limits certified for NB 40 160 177 safely span -25°C to 120°C under a maximum system working pressure of 16 bar.

Across heavy municipal transmission mains, what total dynamic pressure column can be achieved?

Conquering friction across primary district transmission trunk lines, NB/40/160/177 sustains a maximum dynamic head of approximately 39.56 m.
