Product Overview

Constructed for fixed foundation mounting in mechanical rooms, the NB 40-250/245 single-stage end-suction pump connects via DN 65 suction and DN 40 discharge ports. A 18.5 kW electric motor provides mechanical power for continuous water circulation across building service headers.

Fluid output parameters show a rated throughput of 1080 L/Min and a maximum head limit of 68.79 m. Electrocoating treatment on the cast iron casing limits rust in hydronic loops. The internal rotor holds a stainless steel impeller with bronze wear rings. Unit physical weight is 179 kg.

Operating on a 415 V three-phase power supply, the NB 40-250/245 electric motor yields 18.5 kW output power with a current draw of 35.3 Amps. Media temperature capabilities span from -25°C to 120°C under continuous line pressures up to 16 bar. Flanged ports feature DN 65 suction and DN 40 discharge sizing.

Winding insulation on the NB 40-250/245 motor complies with Class F standards within an IP55 dust and spray resistant motor housing equipped with PTC thermistors. Service procedures benefit from back-pull-out construction, permitting internal rotor disassembly without disconnecting main system pipework headers.

Features

  • Integrally cast suction and discharge ports with dedicated vent and drain ports provide direct connection points without additional fittings.
  • No baseplate or grouting required to maintain correct shaft alignment and vibration levels within Hydraulic Institute standards.
  • Cataphoretic electrocoating on cast iron internal surfaces provides barrier protection against oxidative corrosion in hydronic circulation loops.
  • Close-coupled configuration eliminates coupling alignment procedures and reduces overall installation footprint compared to long-coupled alternatives.
  • Ball bearing support arrangement accommodates both radial and axial thrust loads generated during continuous duty operation at rated speed.
  • PN16 flanged connection ratings on sizes up to and including DN 150 provide elevated working pressure capability beyond standard EN733 10 bar ratings.
  • O-ring seal between pump housing and cover eliminates leakage risk at the volute-to-cover joint under sustained operating pressures.

Across regional campus distribution networks, what peak flow rate is sustained under full drive?

For high-volume primary heating manifolds, Grundfos NB 40-250/245 delivers an operational circulation rate of approximately 1080 L/Min.

How does the volute metallurgy endure prolonged physical stress in closed district energy loops?

Manufactured for heavy municipal duty, NB 40-250/245 combines an electrocoated cast iron volute with a precision-cast bronze impeller.

To sustain steady municipal fluid transfer, what power rating, line voltage, and amps are needed?

Energy delivery to NB-40-250-245 is provided by a 18.5 kW motor connected to a three-phase 415 V supply line drawing 35.3 Amps.

What fluid temperature boundaries and working line pressures are permitted across primary district loops?

Closed circuit fluid circulation by NB 40 250 245 accommodates temperatures between -25°C to 120°C under system pressures up to 10 bar.

Under rigorous municipal pumping schedules, how much vertical head pressure is sustained?

For demanding central boiler plant facilities, NB/40/250/245 delivers a maximum dynamic lift of approximately 68.79 m.
