Product Overview

Specified for commercial building services, process water loops, and district cooling infrastructure, the NB 80-160/161 end-suction centrifugal pump incorporates DN 100 suction and DN 80 discharge flanged ports. The end-suction volute design connects directly to suction line headers and concrete foundation bases.

At nominal operational speed, hydraulic output provides 3198 L/Min flow throughput alongside a maximum head limit of 25.06 m. Structural construction incorporates an EN-GJL-250 cast iron body with cataphoresis surface finish. Internal components feature a stainless steel impeller and BQQE seal. Total net weight stands at 179 kg.

The NB 80-160/161 electric motor operates on a 415 V three-phase supply drawing 35.3 Amps rated current at 18.5 kW output power. Fluid handling parameters accommodate liquid temperatures between -25°C to 120°C up to 16 bar system pressure. Line connection uses opposite DN 100 inlet and DN 80 outlet flanged ports.

Enclosure protection on the NB 80-160/161 model meets IP55 standards while motor windings feature Class F insulation and PTC thermistor protection relays. Maintenance technicians can extract the drive unit using back-pull-out access without removing the cast iron volute casing from connected plant room piping manifolds.

Features

  • Cataphoretic electrocoating on cast iron internal surfaces provides barrier protection against oxidative corrosion in hydronic circulation loops.
  • Close-coupled configuration eliminates coupling alignment procedures and reduces overall installation footprint compared to long-coupled alternatives.
  • Ball bearing support arrangement accommodates both radial and axial thrust loads generated during continuous duty operation at rated speed.
  • PN16 flanged connection ratings on sizes up to and including DN 150 provide elevated working pressure capability beyond standard EN733 10 bar ratings.
  • O-ring seal between pump housing and cover eliminates leakage risk at the volute-to-cover joint under sustained operating pressures.
  • Optimised impeller and volute hydraulics deliver unimpeded liquid flow through the pump casing, reducing internal turbulence losses.
  • All stainless steel shaft construction provides improved corrosion resistance compared to carbon steel alternatives in wetted service areas.

During systematic hydronic duty, what fluid temperature ratings and pressure boundaries apply to this pump?

Handling broad climate control demands, Grundfos NB 80-160/161 accommodates circulating liquid media across -25°C to 120°C at pressures to 10 bar.

Supporting heavy primary plant manifolds, what total dynamic elevation height is developed?

Heavy foot-mounted casing rigidity allows NB 80-160/161 to maintain an operational dynamic lift of approximately 25.06 m.

Displacing high liquid volume across elevated risers, how many liters per minute are circulated?

With generous volute internal dimensions, NB-80-160-161 achieves a peak liquid circulation of approximately 3198 L/Min.

How do the cast iron housing and closed stainless steel impeller resist erosive fluid circulation?

The robust hydraulic chamber of NB 80 160 161 pairs an EN-GJL-250 cast iron body with a durable stainless steel impeller.

Under full electrical frequency, what kilowatt rating, incoming supply, and current are drawn by this motor?

In primary municipal pump rooms, NB/80/160/161 utilizes a 18.5 kW motor requiring a three-phase 415 V line with an amperage of 35.3 Amps.
