Product Overview
The Grundfos Hydro Multi-E 2 x CRE3-4 Variable Speed Booster Pump Set is a complete, factory-tested pressure boosting system designed to maintain constant water pressure regardless of changes in water demand. Featuring two electronically controlled Grundfos CRE 3-4 vertical multistage pumps operating in parallel, the system automatically adjusts pump speed and the number of pumps operating to provide efficient and reliable pressure boosting.
Unlike conventional booster systems that rely on a separate central controller, the Hydro Multi-E incorporates the control intelligence directly into the pumps. Its advanced Multi-Master control system allows either pump to act as the controlling pump, providing valuable system redundancy and seamless changeover if a controlling pump or sensor experiences a fault.
An integrated PI controller continuously monitors system pressure and automatically adjusts pump operation according to the required flow. Variable speed operation allows the system to maintain consistent pressure while reducing unnecessary energy consumption during periods of lower demand.
The complete booster package includes two CRE3-4 pumps, suction and discharge manifolds, non-return valve, isolation valves, pressure gauge, pressure transmitters and a 24L diaphragm pressure tank, all assembled onto a common base frame. The system is factory tested and supplied ready for installation, providing a professional packaged solution without the complexity of assembling a twin-pump booster system from individual components.
Delivering a maximum flow of 180 LPM and maximum head of 37 metres, the Hydro Multi-E 2 CRE3-4 is ideal for commercial buildings, apartment complexes, hotels, hospitals, schools, industrial facilities and other applications requiring dependable constant-pressure clean water supply.

What is the Grundfos Hydro Multi-E 2 CRE3-4 used for?
The Hydro Multi-E 2 CRE3-4 is designed for clean water pressure boosting and transfer applications. It is ideal for commercial buildings, apartments, hotels, hospitals, schools, industrial facilities and other applications where consistent water pressure is required as demand changes.
How does the Hydro Multi-E maintain constant water pressure?
The system uses variable speed CRE pumps with an integrated PI controller to continuously monitor system pressure. It automatically adjusts pump speed and the number of pumps operating to match water demand, helping maintain stable pressure throughout the system.
Does the Hydro Multi-E operate both pumps at the same time?
Not necessarily. The system automatically determines how many pumps are required based on demand. During periods of lower water usage, a single pump may operate, while the second pump can automatically assist as demand increases.
What happens if one of the pumps has a fault?
The Hydro Multi-E features Multi-Master control, meaning either pump can act as the controlling pump. This provides valuable system redundancy and allows the remaining pump to continue providing water if the other pump or its associated control experiences a fault, subject to the remaining pump's available capacity.
Does this booster set include a pressure tank?
Yes. This model is supplied with an integrated 24L diaphragm pressure tank, along with the suction and discharge manifolds, non-return valve, isolation valves, pressure gauge and pressure transmitters required for the packaged booster system.
What electrical supply does the Hydro Multi-E 2 CRE3-4 require?
Product number 99614229 operates from a single-phase 200–240V power supply. It incorporates two 0.37kW CRE3-4 pumps with electronically controlled IE5 motors and a rated current of 4.78A per pump.
What is the maximum performance of this booster pump set?
The Grundfos Hydro Multi-E 2 CRE3-4 has a maximum flow of 180 LPM and maximum head of 37 metres. Actual flow and pressure available at a particular operating point will depend on the system requirements, pipework and installation conditions.
