The 1PP20J Microlene Poly Pleated Sediment Removal Cartridge provides 1-micron filtration in a 20-inch Jumbo cartridge format. It is listed for drinking water, beverage industry, mineral water bottling, laboratory use, food industry applications, prefiltration ahead of sub-micron filters or Reverse Osmosis, and other industrial applications where low contamination levels are needed.
Pleated polyester media provides a high surface area for fine sediment capture, supporting longer run length, high dirt-holding ability and low pressure drop. The 20-inch Jumbo configuration has a 4.5-inch diameter and provides a flow rate of 175 lpm. These cartridges are particularly useful for low-pressure applications such as domestic supplies using header tanks or roof water.
Once the cartridge becomes dirty, it can be cleaned under a tap or by gentle hosing. Severe cases can be soaked in diluted acid or other cleaners appropriate to the deposits before rinsing. The source notes that 1-micron cartridges may only be cleanable once or twice. Cartridges should be sterilised with bleach before reuse and replaced when cleaning is no longer effective or head loss reaches 15 psi.
The cartridge is thermally bonded to provide integral joints between the pliable endcaps and rigid centre core for added strength and long service life. It is suitable for liquids up to 52°C and has white construction with blue endcaps.
