Internal fluid velocity paths for selective chemical exchange are the focus of the Davey Microlene NRC10 nitrate reduction cartridge. This model is designed for removing high levels of nitrates from drinking water, typically from clean bore water or prefiltered surface water sources. It is designed for compatible standard 10 inch housings with approximately 64 mm diameter. The unit is recommended for cold water service using a separate drinking water faucet to ensure targeted chemical reduction in the supply line.

Constructed from food grade nitrate selective anion resin, the cartridge housing provides fluid treatment within the distribution loop. This resin is designed for 90 to 95 percent nitrate reduction and is not impacted by sulphate levels that degrade the performance of some nitrate removal resins. The internal architecture includes a 5 micron nominal spun bonded polypropylene post filter to inhibit media migration into the water stream. Most of the capacity can be restored several times using salt water before replacement is required.

Hydraulic performance metrics include a maximum flow rate of 2.0 L/Min and a capacity of 11,700 milligrams of nitrates as NO3. The approximate treated-water capacity in litres can be calculated by dividing the specified nitrate capacity by the feedwater nitrate concentration expressed as NO3. This is a passive mechanical and chemical treatment device that operates without electrical supply or motor drives. It is specified for liquid temperatures reaching 50 degrees Celsius and is designed for high-efficiency exchange within standard housings.

Long-term operating cost scaling is supported by the brine regenerable construction which allows for extended cartridge use. Regeneration involves installing a second housing filled with brine and flushing it through the cartridge according to the specified procedure. Most of the capacity can be restored in a few minutes, allowing the unit to be re-used several times. The unit fits compatible standard 10 inch housings and provides a sustainable solution for nitrate management. It involves no gaskets or chemical binders and has a white appearance.
