Sullage pits in office kitchenettes and tea stations can overflow if a discharge pump fails or drainage lines become obstructed. The MATelec FPC-12659 Undersink Sullage Chamber Alarm and Valve Shut-Off Controller mitigates flood risk by shutting off incoming mains water through a pulse-latching solenoid valve when pit wastewater rises.
Fluid detection is handled by a magnetic float switch positioned in the sullage collection chamber. When water reaches the alarm setpoint, the controller sounds an internal audible buzzer and pulses closed a 20 mm 12Vdc latching solenoid valve, stopping incoming tap water supply and halting further liquid accumulation in the pit.
The controller runs on a standard 230Vac single-phase mains supply, converting internal control power to an isolated 12Vdc low-voltage system. The unit is housed in a compact 200 x 160 x 95 mm IP54 polycarbonate enclosure that uses pre-wired external plugs to avoid internal field wiring.
Operator interaction is provided through a front electronic keypad with power on and alarm LEDs and a combined mute, reset, and test push button. The kit includes a 20 mm male-to-male 12Vdc pulse latching solenoid valve, a magnetic float switch with 10 m cable, and a 10 Amp 1.5 m power supply lead.
