No hard wiring, no complicated setup - just plug in the float switch and the solenoid valve, and the FPC-12721-HD handles the rest. This single pump rain mains controller from MATelec watches the tank level and decides which water source to use, automatically.

When the float switch signals that rain water is available, the controller sends a pulse to close the mains water valve and keeps the pump running on the tank supply. If the tank runs dry or the power drops, it pulses the valve open again so the site switches over to mains water without interruption.

The 9006 float switch with 10m cable plugs straight into the 12Vdc input, and the 25mm pulse latching solenoid valve connects to the 12Vdc output. The pump draws power from the 230Vac GPO rated at 6A max, while the panel itself runs from the included 10A 3 pin power lead.

Everything is housed in an IP54 polycarbonate enclosure that shrugs off weather and comes with mounting brackets ready to go. The front panel carries an electronic keypad with indicator lights showing whether the system is on rain or mains, and the system test button lets you check pump and valve function in seconds.
