Where mains power is unavailable at the monitoring point, solar-powered telemetry removes the need for a local electrical supply. The MATelec FPC-13098 Remote Signal Communicator combines an off-grid solar transmitter with a mains-powered 4G cellular receiver to provide remote pump switching across unlimited distances.
The transmitter station is powered entirely by a solar panel and internal battery storage system, monitoring a 24Vdc digital float or pressure switch. Upon a level change, the solar unit dispatches an automated 4G SMS message to the mains-powered receiver at the pump station, which actuates its onboard relay to switch the pump controller.
Both enclosures are constructed from powder-coated mild steel measuring 300 x 300 x 150 mm with an IP55 weatherproof rating. The transmitter includes an integrated solar charge regulator and battery pack, while the receiver connects to a 230Vac single-phase supply.
Both panels feature external cellular antennas and removable bottom gland plates. The complete system includes the solar transmitter with battery system, the mains receiver panel, 4G modems, antennas, and a 1.5 m power lead for the receiver.
