MATelec FPC-15905-S5.5 Mild Steel IP56 3PH 5.5kW Soft Starter Pump Controller

The FPC-15905-S5.5 takes the stress out of starting larger pumps. This three phase soft starter from MATelec brings 5.5kW motors up to speed gradually, reducing mechanical shock on the pump and eliminating the sudden pressure surge that causes water hammer.

User adjustable soft start and soft stop parameters let you set the acceleration and deceleration ramps to match your system characteristics. For a pressure boosting system, a longer ramp reduces pressure fluctuations; for a transfer pump, a shorter ramp might be perfectly adequate. The choice is yours.

An IP56 powder coated mild steel enclosure with an inner door houses the soft starter. Enclosure size increases with the kW rating, so dimensions vary from the 300x300x150mm DOL footprint.

Two 24Vac digital inputs provide automatic control from floats or pressure switches, while a selector switch offers auto, off and manual operation. Thermal overload protection shuts the pump down on overcurrent, and the soft starter option is available only on three phase panels. Modifications include 316 stainless steel enclosure, indicator lights, remote start/stop and emergency stop isolation.
