Three-phase pump installations in hazardous areas require a controller that combines intrinsically safe float switch inputs with three-phase motor switching capability, and the FPC-82143-INT HydroSTART controller addresses this by integrating intrinsically safe barrier relays within the three-phase HydroSTART platform. The barrier relays limit energy to levels below the ignition threshold, preventing excess voltage and current from reaching the hazardous area under fault conditions. The controller is housed in an IP56 rated powder coated mild steel enclosure with inner door.
The capacitive touch keypad provides indicator lights for system, pump, and input status along with level alarm indication. Six digital inputs accept float or pressure switches, with the standard terminal setup providing low level, duty stop, duty start, standby start, high level, and system enable connections. Current sensing uses two current transformers per pump to monitor two of three phases, with selectable low range (0.1 to 6 Amps) or high range (5 to 16 Amps) providing adjuconsistent overload, undercurrent, and zero current protection.
Control functions include duty sharing and alternation, staggered pump start, manual pump control with optional timeout, and smart chirp mode alarms. Fault protection covers high level alarm, low level shutdown, low pressure protection, prime loss detection, and pump anti-seize. Contactor switching is included for three-phase motor control, and soft starter options from 4.0 to 90 kW are available. Modbus RTU serial RS485 allows SCADA integration, and BMS volt free outputs provide common fault signals to building management systems.
